Seaside Shanty Restaurant

I visited at 4pm on a sunny afternoon in June. What a view and what a menu. I am allergic to gluten and there was so much on offer. This is a unique spot.And we need the unique owner run spots where care is taken with the menu. Good hiring skills on someones I chose a shrimp poor boy special. Which was layered with plump shrimp tomatoes cabbage and mayo. Served with home roasted potato wedges. Plenty of delicious food. Perfect portion size. Friendly informed staff too.

Excellent seafood chowder! Excellent steamed mussels! We loved every bite we had. I would go back but sadly it’s closed for the season. It will be a regular stop for us in the summer!

Best Chowder I've EVER had!

I've eaten chowder all over Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and this was by far the best I've ever had. I follow a low-carb eating plan and was totally amazed to get a bowl of seafood chowder that was...seafood. No visible signs of potatoe anywhere. It was full of bay scallops, shrimp, haddock and crab. There may have been other stuff in there too! I was completely stuffed after having a bowl of it, and am glad my husband dissauded me from ordering an appetizer to go with it. My kids (6 and 9) had fantastic mussells for dinner with garlic bread and ate every bite. We had had mussels at another restaurant and the kids certainly didn't devour them like they did at the Seaside. During a 1 week visit, we ended up eating twice at the Seaside Shanty. When we move to the area, I am sure we will be regulars. This is not a restaurant to pass-by if you are in the area.
