I would really recommend Miga for any occasion. Service and ambience are both great and the food, with high quality and fresh ingredients, is exceptional. Definitely try out this place if youre ever in Missisauga.
If you're willing to spend the money- it's a fantastic place to eat. The waitresses melt my heart- they're so sweet to you. The food is beyond words (we get the bbg every time we go, because we can't get enough of it). The decor is pretty, and the washrooms and tables are very clean. It can be a little hard on the wallet, but once in a while, it's really worth it to go. The meal you're getting will be packed with flavour for every cent that you spend.
I don't know why people complain about the price. They should realize that the quality of food is excellent, thus, it is hard to deny that the price is reasonable. Waitresses are friendly, create friendly atmosphere. I want to point out that they have very interesting design and furnitures to raise the korean traditional vive, and I want to give the credit for it. Their main dishes are korean barbecues but other dishes (such as stone pots, appetizer, even side dishes) are well done and I can see the effort they put on the food. The food is incomparable to other korean restaurants, people should aware of the price before they go - and then they will realize how the taste of food never let down the expectation
We went to Miga's for dinner. When we first walked in, the host was kind and sat us after two minutes. The waitress then came over quickly and asked if we wanted any drinks. We both decided on the all-you-can-eat dinner buffet which was $26.99 per person. The catch though, you had to eat everything that you ordered or else you were charged $5.00 per item you didn't eat, it's crazy?!?! Who does that?! The food was okay, we didn't use the grill since we ordered the buffet and were told that the food from the buffet wasn't to be grilled by us at the table. The waitress was very nice, kind and considerate, she made the visit pleasurable. However, there wasn't much choice in terms of the food for the buffet, and paying extra for food we didn't eat was just wrong. I wouldn't visit again only because the food isn't superb, and it is expensive if you want the buffet.
The jambong (spicy seafood thick noodle soup) is excellent and at 9.95, its a good deal that will leave you nice and full - i have never been able to finsih the entire bowl and I am a big guy. The taste is fresh, and the spiciness is not to hot, the shrimps and mussles are good. They should, put more in but for the price point, I can see why they dont - maybe i can "supersize" next time. The free appetizers, (banchan) are great - i like the potatoes, the corn salad, kimchi, and the eggplant is the best, nice and salty - delicious. I have tried the stone pots here, and they are also good. The set peices (sashimi) are good, and the dynamite rolls are yummy. Only complaint is that it ALWAYS takes forever to get the bill, and they are understafffed in my opinion.
Since my last visit, 9 months ago, I have been twice and I *suspect* that they have changed owners. There used to be some younger waitresses, but now they are all middle-aged. One waitress in particular seemed quite impatient. She tried to take our order within 30 secs of being seated and she came back twice before we were ready! Same goes for the bill that she placed on the table while we were still talking. The presentation, especially in the side dishes, is completely different. For the most part, I used to asked for them to be refilled, now I don't care for them much. The kim chee even appears to be of a lower quality. Today, I tried to order a stone pot with fish eggs and the waitress said, "Today, no sushi", so I continued with my ordering. Then she said, that they didn't have any fish eggs which I was disappointed with. I ended up ordering something else on a whim and it was just okay. Nothing special or particularly yummy as it used to be. :( Can someone confirm this?
Me and my friend ordered Korean BBQ. The food was good but it was not enough food for paying over $60 for 2 ppl. I would go there on special occasions. once or twice a year? maybe?
The Korean BBQ served at Miga is delicious and authentic. You can taste the natural sweeteners used in the meat (I read that they use kiwis to tenderize and sweeten the meat & sauce). The side dishes are also very good. The only complaint I have is that the Korean BBQ is pretty expensive & from my past experience, not all you can eat. Though despite this, I find Miga a great place to dine. =)
After at least a year or so of not visiting, I stopped by today for their lunch specials - also available on the weekends which is GREAT! (I don't visit often 'cause I do find it a bit more expensive than other Korean restaurants. For example, a non-lunch special bbb is ~$13!) First of all, after we ordered, the waitress brought 7 Korean side dishes including: bean sprouts, small, sliced pickled cucumbers, kim chi, potatoes with a sweet syrup, marinated eggplant, crunchy seaweed, & glass noodles. 7 BANCHANS + a bowl of miso soup. We both ordered different bim bim baps (stone pot rice) from the lunch specials menu. (In hindsight, I wish that 1 of us ordered sushi, so that we could've had more variety.) I ordered the Spicy Pork and my bf got the regular Beef/Veggie BBB. Both bowls were scorching hot, as they should be. I didn't try the reg bbb, but my pork was marinated very well, having a spicy+sweet taste which I love! Unfortunately, no veggies came with my bbb. It basically looks very much like the photo, so if you want veggies too, order another dish. Hopefully the banchans balanced things out! My bf said that his regular bbb was delicious, using a better quality beef than most places. The bowl was hot enough that the bottom of the rice was crispy. :) No real complaints. Service is a *tad* slower than most Asian places, but not terrible. Something else that stood out was that their tables are quite high OR the chairs are waaay too low. There was a HUGE gap in between the tabletop and my legs. I felt like a midget eating at a giant's table! The seat of the chair is sunken in + slippery (leather/vinyl?), and the backrest is tilted waaay back, so they're not very comfortable. If you have back problems or someone who needs lumbar support you'll definitely notice this detail.
Love the food here always dilicious! Find the staff the be very friendly and helpful. A little bit pricey in comparison so the all-you-can-eat korean bbq places downtown but you can taste the difference and it worth the extra money. Tip go for lunch they have great specials for only $9.95
really, really outstanding food! the sushi is amazing. I have yet to try the Korean BBQ-but it looks intriguing. Had the Bi Bim Bop as well and it was wonderful too. I've been going here for about a year and have always loved the food. Oh and here is a tip-there is a waitress call button on the tables....I always thought the food was great but the service a little slow. Until I went with someone who explained we should press the button! Oops.
I love this place - I'm a regular. The food is great, the service is good, and the place is very clean. The staff is very friendly...we are always greeted with a smile and treated to something "on the house" almost every time we visit. We drive all the way from Burlington to eat at Miga usually once a week. It's definitely worth the drive!
So far, food and service were ok. However, my food was served on a big chipped plate. -.,-
When we first arrived at the restaurant, there was only 2 other tables - but when we left about 2 hours later, the whole restaurant was almost full. We were seated quickly and given time to look over the menu. Service at this restaurant is fantastic! We discovered the button on our table and if we needed something and there was no one around, they showed up immediately after we pressed it. They were friendly, prompt and very professional. Our side dishes came out first, and we each got our own plate instead of shared plates for the table. There was kim chi, teriyaki potatoes, bean sprouts, cucumber, seaweed salad and creamy corn salad. These were ok - I found the bean sprouts and the cucumber very salty but the kim chi was good. Our spider roll came out and it was 10 pieces that was wrapped with lettuce, masago, avocado and crab. It was a little pricy, but it wasn't bad. We ordered salad with our bbq (instead of lettuce for wraps) and that came along with the rice and soup. The server turned on our grill and greased it with the fat and put some of the meat on to start cooking. For the combo for 2 there was: beef ribs, beef bul gol gi, spicy chicken and spicy pork. The flavouring was average - I found everything to be quite sweet. The spicy chicken and pork had a bit of heat to it, but I wouldn't say it was very spicy. The server came halfway through our meal and asked if we wanted to change the grill since it was starting to get black. He changed it over, re-greased it and put all of the meat back on it. Once again, I can't say enough about the excellent service!! Overall, the restaurant was very clean and nice looking. The service was fantastic and the food was okay. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amazing either. Compared to other Korean BBQs, this is definitely a nicer place aesthetically speaking. There is no AYCE here like in many places in Toronto. I would come back because of the service, but the food wasn't that memorable. For the combo for 2, it was $49.99 and the spider roll was $12.95.
Overall the meal was good, well prepared, cooked etc... it was a little chilly near the end of our meal, service was realatively good, "accidentally" found the paging button. very pleasant, nice smells of BBQ through the air, may go back there with my family in the near future.
Went there for friend's farewell with a party around 16 people on 2 tables, ordered the BBQ combo The combo was delicious and good portion for all of us, good meat, grilled at desk The servers were friendly and funny, other than the usual BBQ smell in the restaurant (kinda given), it's a great Korean restaurant.
First time to Miga - and absolutely LOVED it. The portion sizes were great, the marinated meat was delicious. Will absolutely return sooner than later. Only real complaint would be that the service is adequate - however I didn't know about the paging "button" that others have mentioned - will look for it next time.
Wish there were more pictures in the menu. I was thinking that beef and mushroom stone bowl meant with enoki or the king oyster mushroom; however, it was those Canadian small mushroom. Nevertheless, the food was good and hot. However, the restaurant was freezing (to let you know I was not sitting anywhere near the door). Also, note that each table has it's bell/pager for service, which I thought was an excellent idea to the restaurant.
Miga has a casual atmosphere and a good selection in their menu. The service was friendly and we thought the food was well priced. No complaints at all about Vegetable and Beef Stone Bowl. The Chirashi was also good. Overall, a great experience. We will go back.
I have been to Miga twice before and each time it was a good experience. This time, however, was dreadful. The sushi was dried out and tasted like something I could buy from the Sobey's take out section in a plastic tray. They apologized for this but never offered to adjust my bill at all. Also, the place was freezing. I asked one of the busboys why it was so cold and he told me it was the air conditioning. Brilliant to have a/c on while it's minus 3 outside! Also, no offer to turn the a/c off from anyone. It was basically just a race to get the heck out of there.
