Delicious food! Fast service! Best Hakka in town!!!!
Lin garden is now the worst indo chinese or hakka chinese food around, it used to be good long ago. Place is filthy, owners are rude and quality of food has gone down, its oily, stale and poor ingrediants are used. They are good places around. Avoid this.
Appetizer: House Shrimp Entree: Manchurian Chicken Fried Rice, Dessert: Fried Banana w/ Honey. You'll thank me later.
Im shocked with all the negative reviews for this place. The chinese over here is amazing. We always order the same items and are always pleased. They give good portions and everything is pretty cheap.
rudest servers and waiters. food does not taste good and is filled with oil. they really take a long time to bring the food to you.
I AGREE THAT THIS PLACE HAS FALLEN OFF OVER THE YEARS. STILL THEY MAKE WICKED GREEN BEANS SAUTEED IN PEPPERS AND SPICES AND ONIONS. THE CHILLI CHICKEN IS HIT OR MISS. WE NORMALLY ORDER IT TO OUR OFFICE FOR BIG MEETINGS AND IT IS ALWAYS PRETTY OKAY.
Disgusting service - don't bother calling in an order. They don't start until they have your money. The Asian lady who owns the place is incredibly rude and the old guy behind the cash is worse. The food is cheap and coated with flour to bulk it up. Everything is oily and the oil was probably recycled from another restaurant who used it for ten years. The place is filthy. Stay away.
This is Indian hakka food and although they look chinese, the food served is an adulterated fish. The chicken on the menu is loaded with fat and the most unhealthy place to eat food. I agree with the other reviewer, the food is very oily and use very low quality unhealthy oil. Top it, this is the worst customer service restaurant I have ever seen in my life.
I was there with my girlfriend and a friend not too long ago and enjoyed a really nice dinner. We ordered our usual, accompanied with a couple heinekens. The moment we finished our meal, the waiter throws the bill onto our table. We ordered another round of heinekens, they'd take the bill back, add the beers on the bill and throws it back on the table. They never asked us if we were finished and wanted the bill. Anyways, this running around and readjusting the bill happened many times that night. When we were ordering our 4th, maybe 5th round, the waiter tells us that they've sold out of heinekens. So we decided to order a couple of Blue's instead. When the waiter came to our table, he grudgingly places 3 heinekens on the table and had the entire staff kept watching our every move the rest of the night. When we finally decided to pay, we all agreed that with the bad service, the lying and watching us they didn't deserve a tip. I tip according to service, not the 15% everyone expects. Anyways, the waitress came to take the money, saw we left no tip, scoffed and stormed off. Honestly, with service like that, did they really expect a big tip? A separate incident when my parents went for the first time after coworkers kept insisting they try it, they didn't have a good experience either. The second my parents sat down, one of the servers says to them in chinese, "you're not going to like the food." They ignored the comment since everyone kept telling them how good the food is. The servers were all rude to my parents, the food came cold like they just took it out of the fridge, and ignored my parents when they complained about the cold food. Needless to say we've all decided to never return.
After being a loyal customer for several years and making multiple hundred dollar+ orders for parties over the years, I went in to place and pay for a $200.00 order in advance for a party I was throwing. I went in on a Friday and emphasized several times that the order was for Sunday, as the owner seemed distracted and not listening to me. The male owner repeatedly talked over me saying "I'll take care of it." I was ordering and paying for it in advance, as I was going to be out of town for a wedding on the Saturday, which I explained to him. I arrived home Sunday morning to some very angry voicemails (left on Saturday by the owners) saying my food was ready and why wasn't I picking it up. I went right over to Lin Garden, where I was snubbed and yelled at by the male owner. He said that he had to waste all that food and insisted I ordered it for Saturday. He yelled at me and dismissed me when I told him I'd paid him in advance. He insisted that he NEVER makes mistakes and walked away. (first person I've ever met who doesn't make mistakes) I left the restaurant that Sunday...out $200.00, with no food for my party, and in tears. Also, every order I ever made with them was called in the day before and they were told that it had to be ready for pickup at a certain time. Every time, I would arrive to pick it up and they hadn't even started it yet. Last order, I waited almost an hour while they prepared it, even though I'd called it in the day before. Silly me for going back time and time again. (it was good food) These pompous owners really don't care about their customers. Since then, I have told numerous people about this incident and I know several customers who will never return there, myself among them.
Great food & great value. I have been going there for several years. The decor isn't much to look at but the food is WOW. I don't know where else you can eat such great food for such a low price.
If you like Spicy indian style Chinese fair, this place makes it hot and spicy and also has a few tasty but a little milder menu items for us red pepper avoiders. Largest Shrimps I've found anywhere for a very reasonable price. Go as a group and share the cost of multiple platters at an average of $12-13 per person including tip for a Lunch that makes you so full you'll last past dinner. If you are watching your cholesteral levels, this place may not be best for you as many of the menu items are of the fried variety. Best Chicken pecoras and Chili beef I've ever tasted! Start with their sweet and sour soup, carefull this too has a kick to it. For vegetable lovers, there are veggie and many rice dishes to choose from. Try their steam/fried green beans, mixed vegetable platter or Vegetable fried rice and you will not be disappointed. Bon Appetit
THE BEST RESTERAUNT EVER!!!! Have been going there since I first moved to pickering in 2000. Absolutley love the way they cook the food and the owner Maria and staff are wonderful. For anyone wanting good chinese food, this is the place to visit!
This was a great place to visit once in a while and very recently I ordered a take-out of CHILLI CHICKEN. Brought it home and opened it for dinner. Was very much shocked to see that they have REDUCED the size of the aluminum containers and the QUANTITY was very very less. I called and asked the Gentlemen who stands in the front counter what the price of CHILLI CHICKEN was and he told me $8/- per plate. I informed him that I was shocked to see the quantity of the Chilli Chicken in the take-out that I bought and he had nothing to say about it. I do hope they will be honest in serving the same portions as they did before!
Everything was great, the food was delicious and the service was good as well. I go there every so often with my family
Food was very good and delivered quickly. The quantity was good and we had to pack half of the stuff. But nobody came to take the order for a long time, we had to call the staff.
The Chicken Corn Soup and Spring Roll were excellent. The Chili Chicken and Manchurian Shrimp were a bit strange. The Chicken Fried Rice was good. The Hakka Chow-Mein was excellent. Overall, really good food!!!
We always take out and this is a usual friday night dinner for my friends and I. WE LOVE THE HOUSE SHRIMP - Best shrimp ever and we are shrimp fanatics!! Order in advance as it gets really busy and during peak times (after work & weekends) ordering in advance is a must because it will always take longer then expected.
Very reasonably priced, 5 STAR food, they don't joke when you ask for spicy you GET spicy (not for the faint of heart although you can ask them to tone it down if you like)! Combination of chinese and east indian spices is an incredible taste experience. Food arrives promptly. Not much for ambiance and average service so take out is an option. The food more than makes up for everything. Chili chicken is the best in GTA. This is the best kept secret around.
Normal service like always, food came really fast and was nice and hot.
