After Hemant Bhagwani moved to Thornhill in 2015, he not only set up new residence for his family, but also sought to inject this 905 town with a good dose of culinary fortitude. His Thornhill restaurant The Fat Beet does just this, marrying Indian spices and aromas with Middle Eastern cooking techniques and principles. Hemant is passionate about his recipes, drawing inspiration from recent travels to Tel-Aviv and eating at Chef Eyal Shani’s celebrated restaurant, The Salon.
