On a sweltering summer Sunday, once they’re finished passing the Frisbee around High Park, families pilgrimage to the Junction to cool off with some of Delight Chocolate’s decidedly delicious organic ice cream.
Jeff Brown and Jennifer Rasleigh — the creative husband-and-wife duo behind this chocolaterie — churn out some of the city’s best ice cream. When they aren’t busy crafting picture-pretty fair trade, organic chocolates, that is.
Since Delight is first and foremost a chocolate shop, it only makes sense that their chocolate ice cream is phenomenal. Made with Dominican chocolate, Delight’s version of the ice cream parlour staple is so rich that it deserves to be taxed. Even their vegan variant (made with coconut milk) is wonderfully luxurious.
The ice creams on offer change throughout the summer months to reflect the fruits that are season. Jeff and Jennifer have worked to cultivate relationships with farmers in Ontario and Quebec so they’re always bringing in fresh, locally grown produce. May sees strawberry, June cherry, and the sky's just about the limit come July (think: apricot, watermelon, raspberry, plum and peach ice cream and sorbet flavours).
