My favourite dish at this restaurant is "pork bone soup" , called Kam-Ja-Tang. For just $8 you can get a huge bowl served with rice, and a variety of (free) side-dishes, that will be refilled as you finish them, you will be given Korean tea (made from roasted corn) to drink. The side dishes vary depending on what's seasonal, but my favorites are those made from highly spiced fresh vegetables.
The location is good, easy to get too by the Dundas West street car. There is also on-street parking, and a couple of parking garages nearby. The restaurant itself is in a half-basement level, so you go down about 8 steps to get to it.
The staff friendly and helpful even though the restaurant was very, very busy when I went.
The decor is HORRIBLE, but that doesn't matter, because the food is so good, just shut your eyes and eat.
The extensive menu gives a great authentic flavor of Korean cuisine. If you are new to Korean food, enjoy Kalbi (barbecued short rib of beef in spicy sauce), or Bulgogi (thin sliced barbecued beef). For the more adventurous there are wonderful stir-fried rice dishes cooked with Kimchi, and a house specialty is Boo-de-chige (army soup - this is a winter-warmer with a huge mix of ingredients, including different types of meats and sausages, noodles, rice cake and others, blended to perfection and spiced up with gimchi and hot peppers)
I eat at Korean restaurants a lot (like 5 or six times a week). Ka Chi food is about the best Korean food that you can get in Toronto.
