There are plenty of hardworking Greek families in Edmonton who have turned a love of their heritage into a passion for cooking phenomenal Greek cuisine. These Edmonton spots will make you want to smash a plate with glee (but only after you’ve licked it clean).

The Aegean Greek Kitchen

1
C10-10060 Jasper Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5J 3R8

Big portions, friendly service and great food are just a few of the reasons this place is well-known throughout Edmonton. The roast lemon chicken is a very popular choice, as is the chicken souvlaki pita platter. This family-run spot is located downtown in Scotiabank Place, making it a great lunchtime option for anyone looking for a speedy but delicious meal. There are also plenty of gluten-free options on the menu.

Vicky's Bistro Wine Bar

2
100-501 Festival Ave, Sherwood Park AB T8A 4X3

Located near Festival Place in Sherwood Park, this family-run restaurant fuses Greek and Western cuisine into an unforgettable menu. The sleek interior sets the mood for a lovely evening, as does the great service. Their lemon rice soup is to die for and the saganaki is perfection (fried cheese often is, but still). While it’s not a traditional Greek dish, their Mediterranean steak salad is worth writing home about. The menu helpfully indicates which dishes can be made gluten-free.

Yiannis Taverna

1-10444 82 Ave Nw, Edmonton AB T6E 2A2

This romantic restaurant on Whyte Avenue has plenty of cozy tables for date night and the basement, home to a martini bar called Kasbar, is an awesome place to host a birthday party or a large group. The food is delectable (especially the horiatiki salad) and reasonably priced. It’s also a good place to spot local celebs – I was once seated at the table next to my childhood hero. He seemed to be enjoying his meal too.

Grub Med Greek Ristorante

4
17 Fairway Dr NW, Edmonton AB T6J 2S6

This is a quiet, cozy place, perfect for a date or a peaceful meal. There will be no Greek belly dancers wiggling their way over to your table here. But they have a huge menu, full of seafood, souvlaki and casseroles. Their house speciality is the slow-roasted lamb but if you’re feeling hungry enough to eat your own arm, go for the Grub Med ribs, a whole rack of baby back pork ribs. Add pita and hummus. Repeat.

In April 2016, Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for the Best Pizza in the World: The Top 14 Cities for Pizza placed Edmonton at number eight on the list. With a diverse number of fantastic pizzas to choose from, including hand-tossed, wood-fired pies with white or red sauce and fun toppings ranging from pineapple to pine nuts, you're sure to find one you adore. Buon appetito!
A first date can be make or break – increase your odds by picking the perfect restaurant. These Edmonton dining establishments will bring the cupids flying over to your table and help you get to that second date with their romantic ambiance and excellent food and wine.
Sometimes you need a little nosh between dinner and bedtime. Slim pickings in the cupboard? Worry not! Put down the bowl of stale chips and head to these Edmonton late night restaurants for a snack worthy of your time.
