Ooh-la-la crêpes in Edmonton

The French take on the American pancake, the crêpe is a very flat pancake served with a variety of fillings – some sweet, some savoury. Although probably the simplest French recipe, it’s rather easy to make a less-than-stellar crêpe, so we’ve scoured the city to find you the best and most delicious around. Bon appétit!

Barb & Ernie's Restaurant

They serve up some pretty awesome crêpes and allow you to build-your-own-crêpe with your choice of fillings.

DeDutch Pannekoek House

2
10030 Jasper Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5J 1R2

This Dutch restaurant has the most unique take on crêpes this side of the Atlantic. The Pannekoeken is a large crêpe topped with a variety of options. Try “The windmill”, which consists of shaved smoked wild B.C. salmon, Edam cheese and Hollandaise sauce.

Tiramisu Bistro

3
10750 124 St Nw, Edmonton AB T5M 0H1

This café offers up an Italian twist to an old French favourite. The Calabrese Crêpe consists of eggs, mozzarella, prosciutto and Italian sausage. But the Milano Crepe stole my heart, with its cinnamon cream cheese mousse, fruit compote and maple syrup.

Under The High Wheel

4
8135 102 St NW, Edmonton AB T6E 4A4

A spinach and feta crêpe topped with red pepper sauce - you’ve never had anything so delicious for breakfast (or lunch or dinner). You’ve also got the option to request a vegan buckwheat crêpe.

Uncle Ed's Restaurant

5
4824 118 Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5W 1B4

A Ukrainian restaurant that serves up some pretty awesome grub. Their cheese crêpes are essential a cheese blintz filled with cottage cheese. Some of the best ever!

The Creperie

6
111-10220 103 St NW, Edmonton AB T5J 0Y8

They serve up a slew of savoury and sweet crêpes. I recommend the Crepe Jambalaya for a variety of seafood and hot Italian sausage. Finish up with the dessert Crêpe Caribbean with bananas, dark rum, melted Belgian chocolate and more deliciousness on top.

Crepe Works

7
1878-8882 170 Street NW, Edmonton AB T5T 4J2

The Thai sauce in the Thai chicken crêpe makes this one of the most scrumptious savoury crêpes in town. And for the sweet side, try the orange temptation with mandarin oranges and custard. You’ve never had anything like this.

Bistro Praha

8
10117 101 St NW, Edmonton AB T5J 0T4

This restaurant serves up Czech food, including crêpes. I’ve never had this type of crêpe before but it’s definitely worth it. Crêpe “Henry Christian” is one of my favs, with steamed kiwis with orange liqueur and whipped cream. Amazing!

Cora Breakfast & Lunch

9
6-9977 178 St NW, Edmonton AB T5T 6J6

Known for her crêpes, Cora is a staple across Canada. But don’t let this chain restaurant fool you, their crêpes are still some of the most delicious around. My go-to is the “Raspberry 4 Lucie;” raspberries, cream cheese and English cream, topped with raspberry coulis.

Tutti Frutti

10
350-220 Lakeland Dr, Sherwood Park AB T8H 0N6

They serve up what they call “panini crêpes,” which is basically a savoury crêpe grill-pressed. Does it get any better? Try the ham, egg and cheese with a fruit salad on the side.

On a cold, snowy Edmonton night, nothing says lovin’ like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s no surprise this drink was originally dubbed the “elixir of the gods.” Regardless of the variety you select, or whether you opt for the simplest hot chocolate on the menu, all I can say is ... don’t forget the marshmallows.
You don’t have to travel to Paris to have a true fine-dining experience; you can enjoy an upscale dinner, complete with a five-course meal and fine wine, right here at home. Victoria is a fine-dining destination with an excellent reputation – where talented chefs enjoy crafting delicious gourmet dishes from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Paired with a nice cup of coffee or topped with a scoop of ice cream, pie is unbeatable comfort food. And yet it faces stiff competition from cupcakes as the city’s dessert of choice. Well, pie is fighting back with old fashioned deliciousness as well as new and tantalizing flavours.
