Shamshad Begum, a former elementary school teacher, started Little Munchkin Daycare after finding she was restricted in the sort of teaching environment she could provide. Opening Little Munchkin Daycare allowed Shamshad to interact more openly with younger children, providing fundamental instruction and early childhood education in addition to child-minding services.
“On the whole, we try to emphasize a growth environment,” says Shamshad. “It’s not just child minding, it’s about personal growth and development.” Children at Little Munchkin Daycare are rarely idle for more than a few moments as Shamshad and the rest of the daycare’s staff keep them busy playing, learning and interacting with other children to help develop important cognitive and social skills.
