When people in Burlington say “August 8,” they typically mean the dim sum and sushi all-you-can-eat restaurant on Brant Street just south of Fairview. Since opening in March 2010, the business has become a local fixture. Young and energetic manager Hung Nguyen has been there from the beginning.
What makes August 8 special? Hung notes that the dim sum is prepared on-site each day. “We don’t buy it from the market,” he says. “Everything is made fresh here in Burlington, which is our head office. We have about six or seven chefs in the back always preparing dumplings and making all the fresh dim sum and delivering it to all the other locations.”
The dim sum is key, because Hung says including this option – popular in many Asian restaurants – wasn’t originally part of the plan. But there weren’t many dim sum restaurants in the area so management thought the addition could prove valuable. And now, because of it, and because of the great food and exemplary service, Burlington locals of all backgrounds are enjoying the epicurean delights.
