Our first visit to the Olive Press. Overall the food was very good. Our waitress was very helpful. I think the bad reviewers for this restaurant are overly picky and very unfair. Our first visit was a great success and we will definitely be back. The mushroom ravoli was great..tons of mushrooms and the veal sandwich was huge and served with a little bowl of olives. Nice touch.
We arrived at the Olive Press around 7pm on a Friday night and were amazed at the number of people waiting for a table! Our names were taken and we were invited into the bar area where our bartender, Ashley kept us laughing until our table was ready. We did have to wait about an hour, but during this time we nibbled on a great garlic white pizza and had a chance to sample some of the wines. Great selection with the exception of one or two but was very reasonably priced. The bellinis are a must have! Made with fresh fruit and visually appealing! We were escorted to our table and our server was helpful suggesting some items from the menu that were good to share. Much like the decor, she was classy, comfortable and held no airs of pretention. The portion sizes of the food were HUGE and we had a chance to share 2 pastas and 2 pizzas. Toppings were fresh and unique and the crust wasn't too thick or too thin... just right! The pastas were cooked to perfection and the sauces amazing! We held room for dessert and opted for the tiramisu. It melted in our mouths and is apparently made fresh in the kitchen daily! It was a great night out among friends, one we're sure to repeat soon! I am telling EVERYONE i know to try the Olive Press! Will be back there again soon.
THE WORST IN OAKVILLE BY FAR!!!! After visiting The Olive Press and reading the reviews on this site I can't believe that people could be so inexperienced as to call this a good restaurant. From the second we walked in we knew we were in trouble. The interior is cheap and looks like a chain restaurant. The food is awful and full of garlic and oil. The staff has no clue how to run a restaurant. I simply can't imagine why anyone would think this is a good dinning experience. This is by far the worst restaurant we have ever eaten at. If you are reading this don't waste your time or money. Trust me. What this restaurant needs most is a bull dozer! As for their ingredients .....be prepared to sand blast your tongue to get rid of the cheap taste. And finally any restaurant in Oakville who offers Jackson Triggs as their feature wine should be a clear indication that you are in deep trouble.
First visit after hearing rave reviews. We were seated after only a brief wait at the bar at 7pm on a Sunday night. Our server was friendly but a little flaky, bringing the bottle we ordered but no glasses, chatting unnecessarily about her other job, and forgetting a few other drink orders. In fact, the service was very slow, between being seated, ordering drinks, then half an hour for appetizers and another half hour for our meal to be served. Luckily, the food was quite good and the wine well-priced. Only a few vegetarian options on the menu.
Fabulous all around. Attentive staff, snazzy decor, great food, my only complaint was that it was pretty loud in there. You'd think with the mood lighting, everyone dining would be a little calm. At any rate, a great dining experience. 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, dessert and booze, all under $100. High class dining for the middle class budget!
