Whether you’re an established designer, a fashion student, someone who likes to make your own jewellery or just someone who has been thinking about trying beading, there’s a packet of beads on Queen West with your name on it. Run by jeweller Claude Abittan, The Beadery is a treasure trove of all the materials and know-how needed to make your own necklaces, bracelets and beady knick-knacks. “We source our gemstones from all over the globe, plus we polish and cut them ourselves,” says Claude.
Walking through the store is like strolling through an exotic marketplace with multi-coloured beads, gems, fresh water pearls and crystals hanging by colour or clustered under the glass of display boxes. They also stock an extensive selection of classic metal chains, leather and even ribbons if you're looking to hang your beads and gems on something a bit more funky. A selection of finished pieces are available as well, which can either be purchased or used to inspire your own creation.
Alongside a vast stock, Claude offers thorough advice on the business of beading. If he can’t help, he’ll direct you pronto to someone who can. “We’re all for the best customer service here,“ he says. “That means not wasting anyone’s time.”

We arrived from out of town on holiday with a broken medic alert bracelet. After initially indicating he would not be able to fix the same due to extreme business, he reconsidered and repaired the bracelet in one hour. The service and workmanship were excellent. We were very appreciative.

Friendly owner will take the time to find you exactly what you are looking for. He'll also provide detail of where materials came from, prices etc. He helped me figure out how much of a beautiful gold strand to purchase for a small peoject I'm working on, and even threw in a free pendant prep (wraping a small amythyst in gold holder to be hung on a necklacd). The Beadary offers beautiful handmade wooden beads with many unique shapes and colors. The owner also make metal jewelry on site and did not hesitate to do a little demonstration of metal wire work which was awesome for anyone who's starting on any kind of jewelry.
