You must ask for the separate vegetarian menu which is quite excellent. Some members of the party did try the meat options and the specials, which are all meat options. Everything was quite nice. There were several large groups there that night and we were seated near the open kitchen so it was a bit noisy. The fresh fruit lassie is similar to a mango smoothie but quite a bit better than a smoothie from anywhere else!
Although we originally drove right by this restaurant (the sign is fairly hidden even though it's right on Weber), the atmosphere on the patio and inside is so inviting. The decor, the hand-bound menus and the wooden cheque holder at meal's end were all so unique. The food was fantastic; I had one of the evening specials - a sushi-grade tuna steak on a bed of U-don noodles and vegetables, my boyfriend had the roasted duck with vermicelli noodles in a curry sauce. Both meals were really superb; we were able to watch the chefs create our meals right after we ordered; there's no pre-made food or warming areas here. This is not a cheap restaurant (two dinners plus two glasses of wine was $100 including tip), but for a really great authentic Indonesian meal Bhima's Warung can't be beat.
They call themselves a "Thai-French fusion cusine". A very unqiue but short menu. Food is generally good with some misses (e.g. the mushy rice was too mushy, the pork dish a bit ordinary", and quite pricey. If your parents are coming to town and they're paying, then you can take them there. Better go early because the food takes A LONG TIME to prepare. We sat on the patio outside so service was minimal. Nonetheless it was a decent experience, but I'm not sure if I'm going to return.
Serice was excellent. Food was excellent. Price was too high. My husband and I eat out frequently in Waterloo, Toronto and London. I have never felt taken advantage of prior to this experience. Featured special appetizer was $27.00 and only included 2 scallops. With 2 appetizers and a meal normally I would be completely stuffed but actually I left unsatisfied. A suggestion would be price your food fair according to location etc and post prices. Special features should be comparable to menu prices for appetizers and entrees.
